St. Pancras Cruising Club

Following the sad passing of Jim from L and J Projects, we were engaged by the SPCC team to install a substructure for their new clubhouse. The site was adjacent to St Pancras Lock, sandwiched between the main trainlines coming out from St Pancras and the Regents Canal. Adjacent to the site 30m below was the added complication of a London underground tube line.

Jim had already carried out the design work and it was left to us to construct 20no 300mm CFA piles to depths of approximately 11m, install some minor drainage and construct a reinforced concrete slab on cellcore.

The closest a lorry could get to the site was 50m away. So the piling rig was tracked along the towpath to the site, a grout concrete pumped into the piles and a large boom pump utilised for the main poor of the slab.

The works were carried out in March 2018 and took about 4 weeks.
